Palo Verde provides the following response:

Palo Verde Dosimetry personnel perform WBC calibrations and we perform daily
source checks at least once each day when the system is in use, and following
changes to detector high voltage or component settings. This is done by doing
a normal count using a mixed gamma standard attached to the back detector. The
printed results are reviewed to ensure that no flags are present and if there
are flags then the check can be performed a second time. If it fails again the
whole body counter is removed from service and the WBC system manager will
troubleshoot.

Subject: Powernet: QA of WBC calibration

We were recently asked how we perform a QA of our WBC calibration. We use a
vendor to perform the calibration and the documentation is complete and has
never been challenged, so I was stumped. We do QC checks on the daily
performance to document the daily performance vs. the cal.

What do you do for WBC calibration QA reviews? Especially if you use a vendor
to perform the calibration.
