Palo Verde provides the following response: Palo Verde Dosimetry personnel perform WBC calibrations and we perform daily source checks at least once each day when the system is in use, and following changes to detector high voltage or component settings. This is done by doing a normal count using a mixed gamma standard attached to the back detector. The printed results are reviewed to ensure that no flags are present and if there are flags then the check can be performed a second time. If it fails again the whole body counter is removed from service and the WBC system manager will troubleshoot.
