For Hope Creek and Salem Power Stations

I have been asked to compare RP's "non-core" responsibility commitments at our
site to other sites. To assist in this effort, I would appreciate answers to
the following questions:

Does RP calibrate radiation monitors? No - I&C
                If so, which type?
                                Area Monitors?
                                Process Monitors?
                                Accident Monitors?
Does RP sample storm drains (per ANI, for tritium and gamma analysis)? No -
Chemistry
If so, at what frequency are these samples collected?
Does RP obtain soil samples from locations inside the site boundary for gamma
analysis? Yes - Have a free flowing solids procedure Samples are required for
any digging actitivies.
If so, at what frequency are these samples collected?
Does RP perform sampling of volumetric materials (oil, soil, concrete, etc.)
for unconditional release? Yes
Is RP responsible for calibrating/maintaining/daily operability checks for the
following?
                                Gamma Spectroscopy Equipment WBC only,
Chemistry does count room gamma Spec equip
Alpha and beta proportional counters Yes
Is RP responsible for the Confined Space Program? No - Fire Protection
Does RP perform all atmospheric sampling for confined spaces?
Is RP responsible for sluicing secondary resin? No-Operatoions
Is RP responsible for sluicing primary resin? No- Operations
Is RP responsible for dewatering resin for shipment? No - Operations
Is RP responsible for packaging radioactive waste casks for shipment? Yes
Do RP technicians manage all day to day dosimetry operations (issue TLDs,
perform Personnel Exposure Investigations for anomalous ED or TLD readings,
badge exchange, etc.)? Yes

And finally, How many units do you have, and how many RP technicians do you
have per unit? Please include all RP technician/equivalents who perform ALARA
planning, RWPs, Outage Planning, Dosimetry, Instruments, Respiratory
Protection, Radioactive Waste, Confined Space sampling/permitting no matter
what organization they report to.

3 units on site
ALARA Panning / RWP - 2 at Salem and 2 at HC
Outage Planning - 0 From pool as needed
Dosimetry - 2 for entire site
Resp Protection - 1 at each site
Rad Waste - 1 at each site
Confined Space - there are 8 fire protection personnel around the clock 24X7
for that and many other tasks
