St. Lucie utilizes passive monitoring. We do require a witnessed entrance
only count in an GEM-5 portal monitor set to alarm at 25 nCi (based on Cs-137
using a two-step count) prior to obtaining dosimetry. If the individual
alarms (only get one try), we perform a whole body count. We have both
ARGOS-5AB with Zeus gamma detectors and GEM-5 monitors at the RCA exit with
conservative alarm setpoints. A sensitivity study was performed on both
monitors, and the ARGOS was ~2X more sensitive than the GEM-5s using an
anthropomorphic phantom.

Hi All,

I don't see a recent benchmark on this subject.

Does your site perform exit whole body counting?
If no, do you have any special documentation for passive monitoring or just
take credit for the normal RCA egress process?

For Diablo Canyon we currently do perform exit whole body counting.

Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving,

Linda
