List.

Looking to buy an A4 inkjet for general office use and basic colour proofing needs. Not expecting miracles, nor would expect it to turn out profiled, calibrated, 'proof' proofs.

Anyone have opinions on the Canon S750 or the HP Deskjet 5550 under OS X 10.2 on a B+W G3 300?

Would like to avoid Epson if I can, as I already have a 1520 that -- without decent OS X drivers -- is like an expensive paperweight, and has given me nothing but trouble with feeding paper reliably. It's taken two days to print out 7 A4's that are proofs only in the sense that they show blue things as blue, red things as red, and so on. The only light they match under is no light. Fortunately, it's only proofs of web page designs, so colour isn't critical in this instance.

Would be nice if whichever A4 cheap inkjet I end up with could print reasonably accurately out of the box, and -- if cashflow improves -- stands a chance of being profiled semi-successfully.

When cashflow improves I intend to get a replacement for the 1520 that prints up to A3 and that can be profiled properly. Again, I'm afraid it won't be an Epson... If they can't be bothered to support pro-sumer printers like the 1520, 3000, 5000 under Mac OS X, I see no need to give them my money.

For more details on exactly what it is I do, and thus what my needs would be, see my belated introduction under another email.

Any and all advice and comments gratefully received.
