The situation is this: the images sit on a server (attached to database);
which in turn is backed up. Two 'archive' copies are required - both located
at separate places than the server. Soon, every image will be scanned or
from a digital source; the scanned files can obviously be re scanned and the
original digital files not. Images are sent to clients on CD (but sending 1
DVD rather than 4 CDs seems like a nice idea). The reliability of DVDs will
have to be investigated; and I am pretty sure that the future is with this
medium; it just depends on which format everyone goes for. Don't want a
betamax option here.
