Just as a push to make archiving something you should do. A couple of months ago I mislaid a screw whilst fitting a new hard drive to my server. When I switched on I found the screw,It was wedged between motherboard and case. smoke told me there was a problem and every part of the box was destroyed apart from the case. someone on the list suggested an insurance claim so I did so. After much to and fro with insurance company they agreed to pay for a new computer but only because all the components were scorched.Short circuiting is specifically excluded !! Hard drive recovery at 1000 per disc is not covered and the main archive drive was absolutely dead. Some files were scattered around the network where we had been too sloppy to file it off ( now tell me being lazy does not pay ), so we were able to recover those plus all the CDs which get burnt but for whatever reason don't get despatched also get filed in a shoe boxes so all is not lost . So we now have mirrored our Archive drive on another machine over the network plus a couple of removable drives tucked away in the coalshed. When the drives are full we will replace them with an empty ones and store them away ,just in case someone wants a file, actually not a common occurrence after a couple of months.
