I expect that a really hard nosed tax inspector might point to the
possibility of sending a CF card or microdrive to a a bureau or other
consumer of the images. Not all professional use necessitates that a
photographer owns a computer!  They could also cite the free availability of
printers such as those from HP which accept CF and other cards without the
intermediate agency of the computer.

Just playing devils advocate, as I would dearly like to add a digital SLR to
my own kitbag at some point.
