Is it not all about "shelf life"? The reason computers are written off so quickly is that their technology has been updated 6 months later and thus they do not represent a long term capital investment, but merely a short term necessary business expense. Their rate of depreciation can be up to what, 50%/year? Same with digi photo backs I should think...At least this would be my argument if anyone came knocking.. What's the steert value of a Fuji S1 thesedays or perhaps a Nikon D1? Handy door stops now that the latest stuff is on the shelf.
