Hello all This may be slightly off topic, if so, anybody who has the time and is kind enough to respond, perhaps it's better to do so off-line.
I had my website re-designed by someone over here in Stockholm who is an excellent graphic designer, but he had to stretch himself a bit to do a website in Flash 6. He tested the finished site on a Swedish server (Telia) where no problems of any kind were encountered, it works smoothly ALL the time, regardless of internet traffic. The loading of images and thumbnails isn't amazingly fast, but certainly acceptable, especially with broadband. The test site can be found at http://w1.864.telia.com/~u86432865/test/ I uploaded the site to my domain hosted by UK2.net. Here I have encountered problems from time to time, especially when using IE browser. The loading of images and thumbnails is slow and as internet traffic increases the loading becomes slower and more erratic; it gets to the point where the loading 'hangs up' altogether of either the thumbnails or full images or both stop being loaded. The only thing I can think of as causing this problem is that as the images are loaded sequentially according to a counter, if the loading of one of the thumbnails/images is 'timed out', the loading of what remains simply stops. As everything works fine with Telia site the problem must be something to do with the time allowed for data transfer with the UK2.net server. Does this make sense? I have emailed UK2.net (no phone support, even for major problems like this until one takes out a subscription!) but no response from them. On the UK2.net server, the site is at http://www.tariqdajani.com If I can't solve the problem with UK2.net (and don't want to pay them more money only to find out there's nothing they can or will do!) I'll have to scrap what's left of my annual fee to UK2.net, pay them more money as a transfer fee and take my site to another server (maybe Telia in Sweden as I'm over here) Does anyone have any thoughts on any of this? Any ideas why I'm having these problems with UK2.net and not Telia? I'd be very grateful for any advice. Thanks.
