what is the best way to convert Colour RGB to B&W? Dear Mike,
Keep it all in rgb and use channel mixer and the clikc b&w box at the bottom. You can have it as an adjustment layer and then it means you have three times as much tonal data for B&W. You then use the sliders of RGB in channel mixer as highlight, midone and shadow control. I cant remember which on is which but you will see. IF you want the exposure to stay the same make sure the values add up to 100%. I don't bother ans just pay attention to the visual elements, as you cn get some nice tonal ranges going on. Then obviosly convert to whatever you want/rgb/cmyk to print.
