May I suggest two kind of tests, this is, the ultra scientific one, with all things under the tightest control ( tripod, mirror lock up, strobe lighting, and a standard subject against a Neutral grey background( to avoid color spills),etc, etc, AND other more down to earth test, going more in line with an average shooting condition?? Something else to consider is the processing of files, since Raw data offers many options, and even though Phase One has not released the Mac version for the 1Ds, It is already available in WIndows, so this considerations should be thought of too. A great chance to tst comparative workflows and software. And what a great opportunity to test all Upsizing methods under ideal conditions!! > S'pose that hi res images will then be placed on the > web for us to download and have a look at (via our > differently calibrated monitors!). One more time I regret the distance, but what a fine idea you guys.!! And much more if we can share the results by the ability to download the resulting files. Raw files or 16 bit files can be processed differently to compare results too and resubmitted. > Should we run a book on the results, or is it a > forgone conclusion that digital will win. As much as I love digicams, both will show it's edge for different uses. > I appreciate that the Dimage is not in the same > league, but if some other cheaper camera was included > in the test it would give an idea of what is possible > at a much lower price. Totally agree on this. This would provide ample evidence for my approach on overlapping fields, this is ,in what ranges can two systems be used indifferenttly, how far can we go with each system, how much "digital power" do we really need for each type of work, and when it is time to go for a higher , more sofisticated equipment. A lot crap and commercial BS could be removed from the scene. If Paul Tansley or other local users do not show up ( sure they will), I offer my D60 and a 70-200 f 2,8L lens( I have already found this lens does not behave "weird" in digital) for the testing . > Let me know if you are doing this in London as I have D1X and Fuji S2. > Rob. The list grows... All the best. Jorge Parra =============================================================== GO TO http://www.prodig.org for ~ GUIDELINES ~ un/SUBSCRIBING ~ ITEMS for SALE
