Shangarah, this calls for more exchange of info between agencies and
photographers indeed, and maybe, there can be some business here for those
developing software for better lossless jpeg compression ( if that can
exist). I remember there is this ProJpeg Shareware and they claim their
compression in jpeg to be optimised as compared to that of PS.

Should that or any other alternative really fills the gap in the storage
dilemma, I tell you it means lots of space saving for both photographers and
Agencies, since it is one of those Digital Urban Myths that no serious
photographer will ever keeep or deliver his/her work in Jpeg and only
Uncompressesd Tiff ( not even using the lossless LZW compression) should be
applied.

Also, I have received lots of files saved as EPS with jpeg compression. They
are small files and many claim it is practically lossless, Perhaps it is
time to set up the same tests with this format. I can't remember the reason
for me not to use it often , other than tiff is tiff and nothing beats tiff.

THis would be a real myth breaker!!

The only option I had found so far with storage in CD's is that of
compressing the folder of uncompressed tiff files with Stuffit DeLuxe,
achieving almost double the space available, this is, doubling the number of
files to save in a CD, but still this only allows for some twenty something
fles of 50-55 Mb, and I promise you can go and have a long cofee break
while waiting for the decompresion of such 700Mb compressed folder , and
still you may be facing problems of Mac to PC compatibility with Stuffit
Archives...
