Bob, I think it's safe to assume I know what a drum scan is: It's a digital
scan of a drum, of course.

I can just see those agencies trying to install the HDDs! Maybe he had the
foresight to send external USB HDD. As far as backing up data goes, external
firewire drives seem even more economical to me in terms of saved time and
frustration.
I did read a while back that a new way had been found of storing data on a
CD, I think it was by multi-layering the data and using some other means
than a laser to burn and read data, but nothing seems to have come of it.
