You can scan in greyscale in NikonScan - if you wish. Best to scan at different gain settings for highlights, midtones, and shadows - then composite the results using Channel Operations. The yellow colour is fixer staining trapped within the emulsion. If it's T-Max, it will be pink. If it's XP2, it will be purple-ish........etc-etc. VueScan does everybody's head in at first......read and re-read the instructions. Me?
