If you go to sites like Thinksecret or hang around the Adobe Photoshop forum the general consensus (no guarantees) is that we are talking September or early October at latest for the release of PS 8 and that it will be OS X only for Macs. It is said that the majority of the changes will be linked to digital work flow as far as stills photographers are concerned. PS 8 should include some substantial code cleaning for both Macs and PC's to make it faster.
Personally, I'll wait for the plug in to be included with PS as whatever ships with PS 8 will probably be an improvement anyway and lets face it, this plug in costs half of what we'll be paying for an entire upgrade. If your determined to stay with OS 9 however, this plug in may be your only option.
