The warping that sometimes occurs with mounted prints is because the application of the print to the board can sometimes induce unequal tensions through the substrate.

In the days when I used to hot mount photographic prints to boards with a sheet of shellac, with first a heated iron and then the hot press - some of you will also remember - the way to avoid the warping was simply to counteract the effect by mounting a piece of plain paper to the back of the board to balance it.

I see no reason why this method would not work with today's mounting processes.
