Paul, I've got one of these. I shoot a lot of theater hand held in
ridiculously dark circumstances. I tested it against my normal Sygma 
70-210.
At f2.8 on ISO 200 at 1/10th second hand held at the 200mm end the 
Sygma was
blurred and the Nikon VR was pin sharp under my loupe! I don't need to 
test
it any more :-)
