You have to open a Control Panel and set the default application for opening TIFFs to be Photoshop. It's been a long time since I used OS 9, but I think it's called 'File Exchange'. Somone'll correct me if I'm wrong...
That's correct, but I think you have to change the setting in the File Exchange control panel BEFORE the images are copied to the Mac. The files that come from PC formated media (like most any internal camera disk/card) don't have a Mac resource fork. The Mac associates those files with a particular program based on the file extension (.tif) and its setting in that control panel. When files are copied to the Mac, a resource fork is created for the file assigning it to whatever program is shown in that control panel. So file you've already placed on your Mac are now assigned to the default Picture Viewer. Changing the control panel won't change files that already have a resource fork. The only way to change these are with some sort of resource editor; or use the Open command in Photoshop and then do a save as; or change the File Exchange control panel and copy them again from the card to the Mac.
