Hi Mike, As already stated you have not mentioned the OS level you are at.
You can be helped after the event by a small item of Freeware from a company that has changed its name recently.
The Macintosh Developer Corporation produced a very handy little piece of code that was a Droplet builder and this can easily produce a Droplet that can be made to carry out the Resource fork change for a folder of items in a flash.
