Are you using PC or Mac?
If PC take a look at Breezebrowser from www.breezesys.com which will
autorotate jpgs from Canon cameras.

Auto Rotate JPEGs
Some digital cameras have a sensor which detects the orientation of the
camera when the picture is taken and stores this information in the EXIF
data contained in the image. Use the "Auto Rotate JPEGs" option under
the "Tools" menu to automatically rotate JPEG images to match the EXIF
orientation information. JPEG images are rotated losslessly and there is
no loss of image quality when using this function.

It really is a smashing program for Canon users (I had a D30 but now use
the 10D)and you may find its web proofing and copyright stamping worth
using as well.
