How about creating a duplicate layer from the background, and use Levels
and/or Curves to adjust that image so the edges match the center of the
original.

Then create a layer mask - Layer>Add Layer Mask>Reveal All. With the
mask layer selected, use the Gradient Tool (select Radial Gradient in
the Tool Bar) to draw a gradient starting at the center and out to near
the edge. Might take some trial and error to get it just right.

You should be able to save the mask and Levels adjustment for future
use.
