I don't have time to read the instruction manual at present, but I believe that Adobe 1998 only applies when allowed by the processing software. Using Capture One LE allows me to select Adobe 1998 on Raw files and presumably for Jpegs too, however, if I just drag a jpeg from the flash card to the desktop I get the same message in Photoshop as David despite having chosen Adobe RGB in the camera menu settings. Beware that some of the idiot modes impose Jpeg and colour space settings on you.
