Lots of people have reported problems with the Palladio modem cable (it's Italian by the way) on all the Mac help sites, you would be a lot better to go with SoftGSM as it integrates very well with the OS and no one seems to suffer any problems. Got to ask yourself why doesn't Apple stock Palladio anymore.
