Haven't shot tethered but the manual says you can shoot that way and
recommends you remove the lithium batteries to save life (page 99 of the
manual).

If they're lasting 4 days in tethered mode, you're doing pretty well. <g> I
take them out (if I remember) now when I download images. In the first week
I had the camera, I went through a couple of sets! I didn't have the power
adaptor because Calumet didn't have it in stock and I had to wait but then I
found one in Jessops.
