I have lost count of the hours I have spent doing IT support on behalf of Microsoft :-)
My recent problems with my Minolta 5400 and new La Cie DVD drive have all gone away... since I reformatted my hard drive infected with the Windows XP virus and installed Windows 2000. I was thinking about buying a cool new laptop from Sony but as they only come with Windows XP preloaded I am thinking again!
