The pc is a intel pentium 4, 2.6ghz and 1.5gb ram.  The power supply is as
supplied with the scanner by Bodoni, and is a Protek model PUP55-32 rated at
max output of 45W.

The system will boot with SCSI card installed, the boot only fails if the
scanner is switched on when booting.  I don't know the answer to your
questions about the motherboard, up till now I have left all that stuff to
the engineers, but now I am thiking I need to get some understanding of
what's what re hardware!
