Photoshop CS will run in OS X 10.2.4/Jaguar.

If I had OS X 10.2/Jaguar lying around, I would install it and upgrade to
Panther once the updates were released (although, "most" people seem to be
OK with the upgrade).

Once it's installed, it will probably want to update itself. If not, go into
the System Prefs control panel and update it from the Software Update
button.

Whatever route you take, make sure you read the file on the install CD that
says to read it _before_ you start the install.

The manual is nothing to write home about! However, there are some good
books about. Mac OS X Bible is a good one to start with. Also, the Mac OS X
the Missing Manual, the Visual QuickStart Guide, the O'Reilly series are
good ones if you are a "recreational" user. You can pick up second hand
copies from Amazon for about a fiver!
