If there really are no parts available until Feb then you're right, it's a useless lump...ie unfit for purpose. Reject the camera and demand a refund - Leeds are now Calumet and are obliged to honour their warranties etc. Why have a piece of equipment that will be probably be worth half of what it's worth now in Feb, if you can't use it.
Reject it and don't take no for an answer.
Kind regards,
Tim.

I have a Canon 1Ds that developed a sensor fault last month. The sensor was
replaced under warranty. The new sensor is also faulty (with a fault that
Canon have never heard of) and this time there are no more sensors available
until February 2004. I bought the camera from Leeds (who don't exist now).
Any ideas what I should do, given that I've got digital jobs booked in most
days? Canon seem to be unavailable for comment at the moment. Meanwhile I'm
stuck with a 5500 lump of virtually useless metal & plastic, and there are
no 1Ds's available as replacement even if they would agree to give me one or
even sell me one. I don't want to have to rely on my 10D as back up as it
just isn't up to the job (way to slow to write to the card).
