Sure. I set up a tape measure on the floor and placed a film carton on the 30cm mark - about the centre of the frame when shooting down at an angle of about 45 degrees. Using the centre point, which had been selected as the focus lock position, I focused on the film carton. The result was that the carton was slightly out of focus but the tape measure's mark at app. 27.5cm (just in front of the carton) was sharp.

I repeated this procedure a number of times in different locations with similar results.

This is roughly the test that Canon carry out, only they use a white board with horizontal lines printed on it at centimetre intervals, with a large X in the centre as the point to focus on (one of their test shots was left on the CF card in the camera).

I had a problem with the dreaded front focus problem with my 10D (its not a myth!)

Could you elaborate on this please?
