Canon service have so far been totally unhelpful, and a) seem reluctant to
return calls and b) deny the existence of any sensors in the country.
Unfortunately the camera appeared to be ok when I bought it (old files are
ok), and it's 7 months old so no redress to the credit card company.

I was told by an ex-Leeds employee (now Calumet) that Calumet have nothing
to do with anything that Leeds bought, and that I should refer to Sangers as
they were the parent company of Leeds.  I've so far failed to get any
response at all from Sangers.  If anyone knows the legal position on this
I'd be grateful to hear.
