Dear Joanna

Usually when a company merges with another one they take on ALL the assets and liabilities under the joint or new ownership. This applies especially to employee rights like pensions and redundancy. From what I have read neither company was in financial difficulties so they cannot quote bankruptcy at you.

I would put a call and email through to whoever is the new MD. Point out that you are a subscriber to newsgroups of hundreds of professional photographers and that your treatment will be broadcast. When the BJP Forum is up and running again you could post your Calumet experience there too.

Personally I stopped buying from Calumet/KJP when they billed me double carriage for simple items like film which were out of stock when the first part of an order was shipped. There was also the time when they fed a two year old backup disk into their computer and threatened to sue me for money outstanding, but paid at the time. No apology. I have never liked them since people like Keith Johnson, Nobby and Francis left. The rot set in when P&C got involved. Despite having a studio next door to P&C I did not use them because of their downright rudeness.

Having resigned myself to mail order as I live in Cornwall I now use Jessops ProLine and Park Cameras.

I was told by an ex-Leeds employee (now Calumet) that Calumet have nothing
to do with anything that Leeds bought, and that I should refer to Sangers as
they were the parent company of Leeds. I've so far failed to get any
response at all from Sangers. If anyone knows the legal position on this
I'd be grateful to hear.
