However for digi cam data which often starts as sRGB why bother, unless you want to boost saturation to beyond that achievable in sRGB. (which would usuallly be unprintable anyway).
Unless you really need Adobe RGB (maybe the agency expects it, simplistic, but a valid reason) then stay in sRGB, to do otherwise is more than somewhat ill advised.
This makes sense for sRGB files from a digicam, which now make up a significant part of my input. I've recently started using a Fuji S2 Pro, which outputs JPEGS in sRGB, but allows for RAW files in both sRGB and Adobe 1998. Does it now make sense to make sRGB the Photoshop working space and forego the attractions of Adobe 1998 RAW conversions to keep things simple? Or am I throwing away potential for improved image quality?
And what to do with my extensive archive of scanned trannies saved in (blush blush) my monitor colour space? I'm in the middle an upgrade from OS9 and Photoshop 5.5 to OSX and Photoshop CS and determined finally to implement a sensible colour management policy, but my earlier poor decisions are coming back to haunt me....
