> I've got a Nikon D100 and currently connect via a USB cable - is it better > to get a firewire cable? Are these all the same?
Firewire is much faster - USB2 is only on some of the latest Macs. USB1 will take a very long while with a big CF card or microdrive. I use a card reader with my Powerbook - saves on the camera batteries > I've just bought a mac having previously used a PC - is it best to transfer > the image in iphoto or just copy it from the camera folder - You will probably not want to involve iPhoto in things, it's not really intended for higher end work (it is a great program though - my Mum loves it). >is the picture > altered in anyway depending on how you get it from camera to computer. iPhoto does not handle raw files and last time I checked was not really into colour management :-)) I've not checked the latest incarnation under 10.3 however. Just downloading the files should cause no changes. bye for now Keith Cooper Northlight Images http://northlight-images.co.uk Photography - Digital Imaging - Apple Mac Consultancy Tel +44 (0)116 291 9092 Mobile +44 (0)780 162 9397 =============================================================== GO TO http://www.prodig.org for ~ GUIDELINES ~ un/SUBSCRIBING ~ ITEMS for SALE
