Becky USB 1.1 and firewire are poles apart in speed (~40x faster for firewire). However, I've just looked at my D100 and it doesn't seem to have a firewire out (the D1x does). USB2 would be about the same speed as firewire, but the D100 is only USB1 enabled anyway. A better solution is to remove the CF card and download the images via a card adaptor in the PMCIA socket (laptop) or USB or firewire card reader into a desktop. Saves batteries, but somehow neater too...
Hope that helps R Richard Hanson Photographer Press, editorial, charity and corporate photography www.hansonphoto.co.uk [EMAIL PROTECTED] m: 0793 908 1208 t: 0114 275 0480 f: 0870 168 1472 I've got a Nikon D100 and currently connect via a USB cable - is it better to get a firewire cable? Are these all the same? I've just bought a mac having previously used a PC - is it best to transfer the image in iphoto or just copy it from the camera folder - is the picture altered in anyway depending on how you get it from camera to computer.
