I think we had this argument before. Having Dan's book on my bedside at the moment, (What we do for kicks I hear you say,) I think he is a calibrationist but not an ICC convert.
I am coming round to a view halfway.
1/ Dump everything through the ICC workflow a la Bruce Frazer.
2/ Select what needs tweaking and revert to Dan Margulis.
Having had to deal with RGB > CMYK conversions for the first time, (I previously instructed bureaux), I am getting to much greater grips with the technicalities.
Having had untold difficulties with "sodding" inkjet printers I am amazed at the ease of RGB to CMYK conversions when working to the "correct" parameters.
