Hi Richard,

I stumbled across this problem with my 7600 last week. When you install the
printer driver under Pather, take care that you add the EPSON USB driver,
not the generic USB one, in Printer Configuration. I also found that
although you can delete printers from the setup in Panther, they don't
actually go away, which caused other problems for me. Given that you've
already installed the *wrong* printer driver, you're best bet is to go in to
your Library and dump the Epson driver listed in your Printer preferences.

Once it's dumped, re-install the OS X driver found on the Epson website. The
installation will complete, at which point you can add the printer, ensuring
you choose the EPSON USB driver.

Let me know if that does the trick for you.

It might be worth travelling to the Australian Epson site because the 
drivers are sometimes different. They are for the 1290 for instance.
