Here's Derek Cooper post from earlier this week:
I stumbled across this problem with my 7600 last week. When you install the
printer driver under Pather, take care that you add the EPSON USB driver,
not the generic USB one, in Printer Configuration. I also found that
although you can delete printers from the setup in Panther, they don't
actually go away, which caused other problems for me. Given that you've
already installed the *wrong* printer driver, you're best bet is to go in to
your Library and dump the Epson driver listed in your Printer preferences.
Once it's dumped, re-install the OS X driver found on the Epson website. The
installation will complete, at which point you can add the printer, ensuring
you choose the EPSON USB driver.
I did a search for all files with 1160 in their name, backed them up on an external HD (just in case), trashed them, restarted, installed the Australian driver and continued following Derek's instructions.
Good luck!

Good to see this works. I have had same problem but may have missed a step
in solving it. I have downloaded the Australian Driver and installed but
still have same problem. What were the main steps to uninstalling everything
with 1160 in the file name - was it a straight dump to the trash?
