Thanks very much for your replies.  I uninstalled everything with 1160 
in the filename, installed the Epson Australian website's driver, and 
it now appears in the Epson USB list of printers, and prints with the 
same print dialogues as before I upgraded to Panther.  Which is a great 
relief.
