Hi

I've been looking at colour to black and white conversion methods and have a
page on my web site comparing many different techniques.
<http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/bwfromcolor.html> If anyone has any I've
missed please do let me know...

I'd agree that the blue channel is invariably the noisiest. I've found a
(small) bit of blur on that channel can help or you can do the same on the
a/b channels in Lab. A lot depends on the actual images though. Using the
colour noise reduction function when importing raw files (PS CS) can also
help when converting later to B/W.

I'm hoping to do quite a bit more on the site on digital black and white
before long - but my pre-xmas London work has been extended so the site will
have to wait :-))

Bye for now

Keith Cooper
