Whatever issues you had with an F4S will not be present in the AF-D and
later optics Nikon is producing now. Nikon makes a 12-24 digital zoom which
will be your best bet due to its optics designed for digital sensors. Sigma
lenses are fine but in no instance have I found them to be better than
Nikon. Now and then the come out with a desirable zoom range or price point
which is compelling but I don't

My shooting experience with with the 14N left me wanting. Image quality and
convenience were disappointing. The Fuji S2Pro was my ultimate choice and I
never looked back.
