Nikon makes a 12-24 digital zoom which will be your best bet due to its optics designed for digital sensors.
May be but I would assume it won't cover the full frame sensor of a 14n. The 17-35 is reported to work well. I have a 20-35 which works well with late versions of firmware. It wasn't properly optimized in earlier versions.
