Was it a 'seamless' transition from 9.x to Panther?Any jump from MacOS 9.x to MacOS X.x could hardly be described as 'seamless'.
But 'Panther' is certainly an improvement on 'Jaguar'. Several little niggles have been ironed out, but some have also crept in - 10.3.2 seems to introduce some audio glitches, but these may well not occur with the G5.
The jump from PS7 to CS will bring considerably better workflow for digital imaging due to the enhanced File Browser features, and tools like Shadow Highlights.
So, overall I think that despite any negatives, the benefits will be worth the effort of the upgrade. Give some thought to the Suite, as all the components can be useful.
Does it require new profiles?Thomas or Neil should be able to answer this, but I would have thought not.
More to the point, do the Epson drivers work satisfactorily in Panther orIf the drivers from Epson exist, then MacOS X should have no problems printing, the only downside is wading though the settings themselves. The GIMP drivers exist for numerous printers and work fine, but with fewer features than the manufacturers' own ones.
are we still stuck with booting up in classic to print out using the
original Epson drivers thus managing to retain the profiles?
I am not an owner of a G5, so apologies for the drool over the email...
