I've just gone through a similar thing with OS9 to Panther on a G4 with an Epson 1270. No it wasn't "seamless"... I spent a long time on the telephone to tech support at both Epson and Wacom, who were both extremely helpful. However the problems now seem to be solved and the original printer profiles are still valid.
