>run two Classic 500 heads off it?

If two 500ws heads take one second to re-charge, they might draw about
1kw... but check it out.

6kws blows a 13A thermal overload trip if you make several test firings over
a few minutes.

I have wondered how I could run 10,000 ws of studio lighting off a cigar
lighter socket or 12v vehicle electrical system.

If you do not have enough power available does it just take longer to
recharge - or does something go up in smoke?

If you put a bulb in series it limits the current.

The obvious solution is to use your UPS, (mine is rated at 1.4kva) to store
the energy for recharge.

You can connect directly to the battery, but My UPS stores the power at 28v.

The UPS could probably handle short term overloads, but you will probably be
looking for reliability!

The other solution is my generator - which is nominally 6kw, can tolerate
short-term overloads, and has a thermal cut out... but it is a bit noisy and
weighs 75kg.

If someone made a nice big UPS that you could power from the mains or
connect directly to your 12v vehicle electrics, I think they would have a
market - I will search the internet for one.
