Hi

If you work out the current that is flowing you'll see why the wires would
get warm (over 70 amps!)

If you really want to draw such power, then I'd suggest a chat with your
local car audio supplier - preferably those used to fitting speakers the
size of your car boot. They will show you the huge (gold plated) bus bars
and gigantic capacitors that some car audio 'enthusiasts' use :-)

15 amps (~200 watts) is a lot to draw continuously from a cig lighter socket
without risking problems.

There can be problems from your battery/wiring/alternator if you use it for
any time. During one of my other careers I fitted various mains powered
driver monitoring kit in cars and always fitted a new (fused) circuit direct
to the battery with very thick wire to power the inverter.

Just remember with all this running stuff in cars business, that asking for
a jump start because your battery is flat may not look too good to the
client :-)
