Thank you for that, you are correct, I was really pointing out that I was aware that since he was not even talking MacOS 9,2,2, he was unlikely to be on a machine capable of running 800, so my remark was still wide of the mark!
I did make the same comment as you that Panther can be run alongside, whilst getting to grips with all that was new was a safe route to take, and that he would benefit from the upgrade.
