John Hi ... I've been using Macromedia dreamweaver MX to design my site. Until my first go I had never been near a web design program so can vouch for it's simplicity. Although it can be a very complex program it is very easy to design very simple site from and when you become more accomplished you have the option of updating at will. Also I'd recommend Smart FTP as your file transfer program..... it's extremely simple as it's all drag and drop.
