Here are my figures from Ge#Ti ([EMAIL PROTECTED]): 2002 was Euro 24 000 for 29/32 picts which are ten years old and 2001 was close to the same... And I must add, these picts are far from my actual quality standard (I mean both technical, creative and relevance to the market), be sure it's not self-proudness.
I red in the guidelines (not sure which one but I think they are those from the one I mentioned above), they are requested up to 300 MB by consumers ad the technical quality of the files submitted must allows to interpolate them up to this size. What's amazing is they don't seems to reach the quality they are requiring from photographers when they scan themselves, many photogs are complaining about. Some of mine had been washed out to a single colour tones...
In a perfect world we shouldn't have to deal with morons, but this world is far to be perfect and as photo-libraries are dealing worldwide, they have to deal with a lot of them.
I think income by picture from stock have less to do with quality (both technical and creative) than relevance to the market (i.e. subject matter and competition on this subject). One may shoot starfishes and earn a lot because this market is not crowded. And if One do so creatively, One will become famous ;-)
I am in the joining process with some of the distributors which requires 100 MB files, they know I interpolate from 36 MB files of my 1Ds, I had passed the AD control, and a set of them are checked by the techies in NY, I'm still waiting for their reply, but I think they know enough about their market to bother with such heavy files.
To end with these thoughts, I want to say that even I agree with you regarding to the size, I think it worth the extra-work considering the income it could generate.
I had almost quitting the assignments and private customers to focus on stock.
Best regards.
Fernand

would love to see some figures from people who make a living, or part
living, from sales through agencies. For example, the agencies who demand
100mb files, how many actually sell 100mb, 50mb, 30mb, 20mb, 10mb, 5mb of
the same file?
