Greetings Dave, I assign Adobe RGB 1998 to all my files as soon as I open them for the first time in Photoshop. I've been doing this from day one. I have no idea what others do.
What I do is follow is the advice of Ian Lyons at Computer Darkroom on setting up color management for Photshop. He has articles for the Color Management of Photoshop 6.0 , 7.0 and CS . His setup instructions are flawless.
