I am printing an image from photoshop 6 which has been comprehensively gaussian blurred, using an Epson 1290. I have done the last bits of blurring in 16 bit, for smoothness, and everything looks fine on screen in Adobe 1998.
Everything looks fine when i convert to the printer/paper profile too. However, on the print, where the colour fades from green to pink there is a strange fringe of pale green about halfway through the transition. This occurs the same at different print sizes and resolutions, scaling in size with the print size. When changing the print size I have not resampled. i.e. smaller print is at higher res. The fringe does not even appear on screen when I do some monstrous profile changes (as experiments) e.g. various CMYK profiles. anyone know what it is it and how i get rid of it? Loth to spend cash getting someone else to print it only to find that it is a photoshop thing and they get the same result. Giles Stokoe photographer/photojournalist.
